We have launched businesses and products in a number of industries, built wireless telecommunications technologies, created and managed large professional services engagements, and directed operations, IT, sales, marketing, and finance groups for public companies. Collectively, our team has worked as consultants, directors and vice presidents of other companies, professors, inventors, investors, project managers, site designers, engineers, marketers, and installers.
David S. Wiley – President
Mr. Wiley has nearly three decades of sales, professional services and management experience in the telecommunications industry. He is a high integrity, dynamic manager known for leading successful corporations through complex start-up, turnaround, and high-growth cycles. Prior to founding Widelity, he served as the Vice President of Operations Planning and Support for First Avenue Networks, a major broadband fixed wireless company. He also served as Vice President of Services at MobileAccess Networks, a leading provider of in-building wireless solutions, where he was responsible for the successful implementation and maintenance of multi-million dollar projects on time and within budget. Before joining MobileAccess, Mr. Wiley was a Director at XO Communications where he led national network deployment and service initiatives. Prior to that, he was Director of Business Operations at Iridium, and managed systems development and delivery at Verizon and as a consultant at Accenture. Throughout his career, Mr. Wiley has capitalized on market opportunities to drive revenues, profits, and growth. He combines strong organization and communication skills with a proven ability to conceptualize, architect, and implement successful solutions for complex customer needs. Mr. Wiley has a B.A. in Economics and an MBA both from the College of William and Mary.
Paul Altoz – Principal
Mr. Altoz is a multi-skilled telecommunications industry veteran with experience in the wireless, in-building, long distance, satellite, and CLEC segments. His unique blend of operational and financial expertise has focused on Accounting, Budgeting and Reporting, Program and Project Management, Contract Administration, Operations and Process Development and Internal Controls. He combines strong organization and communication skills with a proven ability to develop and execute on management’s objectives. He holds a BS in Accounting from Virginia Tech and is a CPA licensed in Virginia.
Ms. Beekhuysen is a customer-focused and results-oriented RF (Radio Frequency) design and support engineer two decades of experience in providing network solutions for major wireless carriers, government clients and private utility clients. In depth and hands-on experience with point-to-point microwave network design as well as regulatory expertise. Strong academic background in Fixed and Wireless communication technologies. She has worked for prominent wireless networking companies across the US, has taught microwave theory and propagation, and is an expert in FCC rules and regulations. She holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from the George Washington University in Washington, DC, and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland in College Park, MD.
Gain Bunten – Principal
Gain Bunten has over three decades of Telecommunications and Information Technology management experience focusing on communications product development and services development & support. Prior to joining Widelity, Mr. Bunten managed his own consulting firm serving clients in the voice and IP industries and was Director of Service Development for Cable & Wireless’ Global Markets division serving large multinational clients in North America, Europe, and Asia. He was responsible for overseeing the implementation of an integrated global network management platform. Establishing operations centers in Bangalore, India and Hong Kong, Mr. Bunten’s team employed the global network management platform in support of Managed Network Services products successfully serving the European and Asian markets. He has extensive experience in conceptualizing and developing managed services solutions from a client’s and vendor’s perspectives. Mr. Bunten’s background includes communications product development as a member of the development management teams at Alcatel Data Networks and Sprint International. A service operations veteran with a sound grasp of operations process development including ITIL and business continuity practices, he is well versed in all business components representing the managed services industry. Mr. Bunten has a Masters in Telecommunication from The George Washington University and a BA in English/Journalism from the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts.
Mr. Cole has been an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA), in the American Society of Appraisers in Machinery and Technical Specialties: Machinery and Equipment, since 1990. During his career, he has constructed television stations, including WWSI-TV in Atlantic City, New Jersey. In addition, he serves as an expert witness in valuation matters, and is a Senior Instructor for Machinery and Equipment Principles of Valuation courses ME201-ME204. Mr. Cole is also Past regional governor for ASA, Region 3, Past chairman, ASA Education Committee, Past chairman, ASA Admissions and Membership Committee, and Current chairman, ASA Tellers & Credentials Committee. He is actively serving Widelity clients in the broadcast industry.
Brian Dunne brings a wealth of experience to the Widelity Software Development team. He has a wide variety of technical experience picked up from years of independent study that often gives him a unique perspective to approach problems from. This independent study has made him very comfortable with diving into complex, established projects without any previous experience and becoming quickly acquainted with them. His experience includes everything from database design to web development, and he is always eager to learn whatever he can. Mr. Dunne studies computer science at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA.
Barry Graves – Principal
Mr. Graves has over 20 years of experience in design and deployment of wireless communications systems. His previous positions include Director of Engineering at InnerWireless, Director Broadband Wireless Engineering at XO Communications, Director Broadband Wireless Engineering at Nortel Networks, and Senior Product Manager at Nortel Networks. Mr. Graves has significant international experience having completed in-building projects in China and Hong Kong. His career has also taken him to Singapore, Pakistan, Israel and several European locations. He is a graduate of the Texas A&M University with a BS, Engineering and currently resides in Texas.
Mr. Hariton is the Director of Software Development and Software Development Management for Widelity, and established and leads the software development group; his supervisory role includes responsibility for recruitment, hiring, and mentorship of new team members. He also mentors team members to increase the depth and breadth of development and programming skills. Mr. Hariton has established team policies involving code reviews, pull request gating, source control, client data security, documentation, programming style, testing, open source license compliance, and computing resource usage. He is the Primary Architect for identifying appropriate frameworks and performance specs with clients, leading requirements gathering, creating development roadmaps with cost and time estimates, facilitating internal and external progress reviews. He holds a B.S. in Physics with minors in Math and Economics from Brandeis University in Waltham, Massachusetts.
Mr. Jewett is a veteran of the mobile & satellite industries, having grown up in the wireless industry from its early days. He has helped build the modern telecommunications networks that today are the engine for communication and commerce worldwide, having played a role with launching new services including pagers, cell phones, mobile satellite phones and broadband terminals, and M2M solutions. With broad experience gained by working for diverse operators, Mr. Jewett brings a rich understanding of wireless technologies and business models. He has run multiple functional areas — Business Development, Strategy, Marketing, Operations— and worked in many different countries, which has afforded him an understanding of market dynamics and cultural norms, not to mention a deep network of contacts worldwide. On the terrestrial technology side, his has worked closely with CDMA, GSM and LTE operators, major ISPs, and cable MSOs. On the satellite technology side, he has worked with a number of the leading MSS and FSS operators (L-Band, Ku-Band, Ka-Band, S-band.) Mr. Jewett holds a BA in Economics from Yale University.
Michael Lasky – Principal
Michael Lasky has over thirty years of business management and consulting experience in the technology and communications industries. Prior to joining Widelity, Mr. Lasky was the Managing Director of the Stargazer Foundation developing products and services for emergency responders. Prior to Stargazer, he developed and launched PropertyChannel.com, a joint venture of Cox Newspapers, Tribune Company, Knight-Ridder and Advance Publications. Mr. Lasky also spent a number of years in television and satellite communications including time with Bell Atlantic Video Services overseeing the creation of interactive services, and managing the programming acquisition. He was Vice President of Programming at SKYPIX as well as the Director of Film Acquisition. at Showtime/The Movie Channel. Mr. Lasky has an MBA from the Johnson Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Cornell University.
Mr. Mangum’s career spans three decades with excellent experience in nearly every segment of the telecommunications industry including; satellite communications, cellular, PCS, microwave PTP/PMP and LAN/WAN. His previous positions include design and deployment of satellite networks at GTE Spacenet, cellular and microwave networks at Hughes Network Systems and LAN/WAN networks at Education Networks of America. In addition to design and deployment duties Mr. Mangum provides project management and construction management support for all facets of Widelity projects. Mr. Mangum’s broad knowledge/experience base and attention to detail combined with thoroughness in all of his work provide a unique and superior level of quality. He is one of those difficult to find senior wireless engineers/managers who understand RF, data communications, and the practical know-how of implementation. He is always willing to go the extra mile to complete the task at hand. His integrity and commitment to the mission are exemplary and motivate fellow team members. He holds an A.A.S in Electronics Engineering Technology from Hagerstown Junior College, Hagerstown, MD, and graduated from the U.S. Army Signal Corp. Technical School as an MOS 35E – Special Electronic Device Repair, Ft. Belvoir, VA.
Steve Martinez – Principal
Mr. Martinez is a senior professional with over 25 years of experience in planning, deployment, and operations of wireless and core network solutions. He has extensive direct customer experience, with multiple industries including carriers and enterprise clients in domestic and international markets. He is PMP certified. Fluent in English and Spanish. Prior to joining Widelity Mr. Martinez was a Director at StarVox where he managed complex IP telephony and bandwidth projects for a variety of corporate clients. His previous experience includes Director at NORTEL, Network Deployment Director at MobileStar, Sr. Project Manager at Inner Wireless, World Wide Talk and Crown Castle. He has a BSEE from the University of Central Florida.
JB Meek – Managing Director
Mr. Meek is a senior advisor to businesses in growth and transition stages, leveraging over two decades of his extensive multi-industry expertise and record of operational improvements for efficiency-minded management teams. He has served as a director of operations for the National Automobile Dealers Association, WellDoc, and MobileAccess Networks, where he built the back office, planning, delivery, and support capabilities of the company to position it for successful exit. His experience includes building new business units, process engineering, operations management, funding, asset sales, and acquisitions. Mr. Meek holds a B.A in Economics from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia. He resides in Washington, DC with his wife, daughter, and rescued Labrador Retriever.
Mr. Morton is a private equity and operating executive who has led investment banking efforts with a focus on growth and technology, media & telecommunication market sectors. This includes originating, placing and managing convertible debt, private equity, alternative investment (SPAC, Pooled Equity, etc.) or M&A opportunities. His diverse capability is leveraged across the firm’s broader set of products and relationships, providing corporate clients access to strategic advisory, operations and capital markets solutions. Premier client relationships include the FCC, defense/aerospace, leading mobile operators, and growth companies. Mr. Morton holds a BS from the College of William & Mary, and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
Matt Nicholson – Principal
Mr. Nicholson has over 25 years of broad telecommunication experience. He has been an account manager for large national accounts like T-Mobile, MetroPCS, Leap, Time Warner Cable, Comcast, COX, Vodacom, Telkom. He has extensive experience in Mobile backhaul, Managed services (Transport), Microwave network operations, Microwave products, Next Generation Networks (Convergence), Wireless Telecommunications – GSM, GPRS, Fixed GSM, MVNO, Satellite. Prior to joining Widelity, Mr. Nicholson was the Sales Director at IDT Spectrum and Ericsson. Prior to that he was the Vice President, Ericsson South Africa. He holds a BCOMPT Degree and a NATIONAL DIPLOMA TELECOMMUNICATIONS from the University of South Africa.
Ms. Oda is an Inventory and Logistics professional who is highly skilled in Interpersonal Communication, Inventory Management, Material Planning, Organization, Program Management, Relationship Building, and LTL/FTL/Intermodal/White Glove/Expedited Logistics. She has created and manages a comprehensive inventory program for a division of Google’s Access and Energy group worth over $1.5 million, and trains and coaches team leads regarding new established protocol for access to and proper usage of inventory. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Media from the California State University, Sacramento, California.
Mr. Sharma is a highly accomplished and visionary leader with extensive domestic and international experience in planning, designing, project management, implementation and operating communications networks using various technologies such as fiber optics, satellites and microwave. He has founded companies and worked for large wireless carriers, and is a results-oriented manager with proven success in driving projects from feasibility studies to completion on time, meeting corporate vision and goals and exceeding customer expectations. He has been responsible for managing the implementation of network for a large national wireless carrier, with duties including path engineering and design, review and approval of LOS packages, review and approval of closeout packages, path troubleshooting support, and installation packages. Mr. Sharma holds a Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University, Raleigh NC, and a Master of Science, Engineering Management from the George Washington University, Washington DC.
